Job Requirements

  • Citizen of the United States
  • Six months of relevant experience or one year of post-high school education with health care related courses
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Pending certification or licensure may be acceptable
  • Compliance with VA Directive and Handbook 5019
  • Ability to work under supervision and follow guidance
  • Eligible under grandfathering provision if applicable

Job Qualifications

  • Proficient in spoken and written English
  • Experience or coursework in health care related fields
  • Ability to operate sterilization equipment
  • Knowledge of sterile processing and infection prevention regulations
  • Ability to coordinate work and meet deadlines
  • Ability to interact with diverse individuals
  • Certification as Level 1 MST preferred

Job Duties

  • Decontaminate, sterilize and inspect reusable medical devices
  • Assemble basic sets and trays for medical use
  • Operate sterilization equipment and processes
  • Prepare operating room case carts
  • Follow infection prevention and sterile processing policies
  • Coordinate with medical staff to ensure equipment readiness
  • Maintain accurate records of sterilization procedures
