Job Requirements
- Citizen of the United States
- Six months of relevant experience or one year of post-high school education with health care related courses
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Pending certification or licensure may be acceptable
- Compliance with VA Directive and Handbook 5019
- Ability to work under supervision and follow guidance
- Eligible under grandfathering provision if applicable
Job Qualifications
- Proficient in spoken and written English
- Experience or coursework in health care related fields
- Ability to operate sterilization equipment
- Knowledge of sterile processing and infection prevention regulations
- Ability to coordinate work and meet deadlines
- Ability to interact with diverse individuals
- Certification as Level 1 MST preferred
Job Duties
- Decontaminate, sterilize and inspect reusable medical devices
- Assemble basic sets and trays for medical use
- Operate sterilization equipment and processes
- Prepare operating room case carts
- Follow infection prevention and sterile processing policies
- Coordinate with medical staff to ensure equipment readiness
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization procedures
