Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • three years of experience performing food preparation and/or service in similar establishments
  • 1-3 years lead experience
  • ServSafe Food Handler certification
  • knowledge of supervisory theories and methods
  • familiarity with food safety techniques and HACCP guidelines
  • awareness of safety hazards and necessary precautions
  • ability to maintain sanitary food preparation conditions
  • knowledge of proper handling and preparation of food
  • basic math proficiency
  • strong prioritization and coordination skills
  • problem-solving capabilities
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • experience with staff training and cross-training
  • computer literacy including Microsoft systems

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • three years of experience performing food preparation and/or service for establishments such as educational, restaurant, hotel, correctional, military, or medical institutions
  • 1-3 years lead or supervisory experience
  • ServSafe Food Handler certification
  • knowledge of supervisory theories and methods
  • knowledge of food safety techniques and HACCP guidelines
  • knowledge of safety hazards and precautions
  • ability to maintain sanitary food preparation conditions
  • experience with kitchen utensils and food preparation equipment
  • knowledge of basic mathematical calculations
  • skill in prioritizing, coordinating, and problem-solving
  • effective communication and relationship-building skills
  • experience providing staff training and development
  • proficiency with Microsoft systems and basic computer skills

Job Duties

  • Provide excellent customer service to customers, visitors, and employees
  • offer assistance to customers needing help including serving, carrying tray, filling beverages, and escorting to cash register and table
  • use AIDET in all customer interactions
  • learn customers' preferred names and use in conversation
  • promote positive interpersonal relationships with fellow employees, customers, and visitors
  • treat everyone with courtesy, dignity, empathy and respect
  • assist customers in making meal selections, ordering and suggestive selling appropriate add-on items
  • organize, direct, and coordinate functions and activities in the food service department to ensure regulatory compliance
  • plan, schedule, coordinate, and assign work and establish goals and priorities for employees
  • monitor the preparation and serving of food and beverages for retail, catering, vending and Starbucks and prepare as required
  • model exceptional customer service and respond to and manage customer complaints, concerns and suggestions for improvement
  • supervise Retail, Catering, Vending and Administrative Support staff in the department
  • perform cash handling including cash deposits and payroll
  • compile and maintain records of food use and expenditures
  • conduct performance improvement audits as requested
  • ensure standards of quality, hygiene, and efficiency are met
  • maintain departmental policies, procedures, and quality assurance programs
  • provide staff training and development including performance evaluations
  • resolve problems encountered by employees
  • enforce proper cash handling policies
  • manage digital menus for accuracy of nutritional information
  • provide clerical and technical support to the Food Services Department
  • function as a team player and provide coverage as needed at all retail locations
