Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one year retail sales or service experience
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow instructional documents such as safety rules and procedural manuals
  • Skilled at providing friendly and attentive customer service
  • Ability to communicate professionally with customers and team members
  • Capable of standing and walking for prolonged periods
  • Ability to move and handle merchandise up to 50 pounds
  • Min 1year retail sales or service experience with hardware knowledge as a plus
  • Must have weekend availability (Sat/Sun)
  • A continuous pattern of regular and prompt attendance is required.

Job Qualifications

  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to communicate professionally with customers and team members
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge and experience in various hardware departments such as paint, tools, and outdoor equipment preferred
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods and perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Willingness to learn and grow professionally within the company
  • Effective teamwork and communication skills
  • Demonstrated reliability with consistent attendance.

Job Duties

  • Help unload incoming trucks and put away merchandise as arranged by management
  • Maintain your assigned department by keeping it clean, organized, and fully stocked
  • Execute the daily operational and day-to-day goals and priorities assigned by store management
  • Cooperate with others and work well as part of a retail team including active participation in meetings and sharing ideas for improvement
  • Remove promotional bin tags from displays and price tags as required following sales events, flyers, etc., and restock merchandise displays as needed
  • Handle special orders for all non-stock items, consulting management before refusing customer requests
  • Watch for shoplifters and take appropriate action in line with company policy while providing excellent customer service to prevent theft
  • Provide the best possible experience for every customer by being helpful, knowledgeable, respectful, and friendly
  • Stand in main aisles to monitor customers, assist customers throughout the store, and avoid personal conversations during work hours
  • Assist customers with simple complaints or concerns and involve managers as needed
  • Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements to inform customers about special sales
  • Always wear radio and headset to communicate effectively with other associates and management
  • Assist customers with large or heavy items as needed
  • Assist in the training and development of peers
  • Attend training for Point of Sales system, paint mixing, glass cutting, propane refills, key cutting, basic hardware knowledge, and inventory control to effectively serve customers.
