Job Requirements
- high school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred but not required
- one to three months related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence and memos
- ability to communicate effectively with customers
- ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers and decimals
- ability to apply common sense understanding to follow written or verbal instructions
- ability to operate hand truck
- ability to regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds
- willingness to work weekends, holidays and evening shifts
- availability for part-time or full-time work
- adherence to safety protocols including wearing personal protective equipment when necessary

Job Duties
- Follow verbal instructions or read work orders to determine materials and containers to be moved
- assist donors by carrying donated merchandise from their vehicle into the store
- assist customers by carrying heavy or bulky purchases to their vehicle
- sort, price and grade newly arrived goods
- convey materials to and from storage or work areas using hand truck, carts, pallet jack or straddle stacker
- use equipment to handle, move or dispose of materials including trash compactor and tipping equipment
- stock shelves, counters and tables
- count, weigh and record number of units of material moved or handled and prepare inventory of stock
- assist in preparation of shipping documentation
- ensure crates are clearly labeled and secured for transport
- lift heavy objects and maintain clean work area and equipment
- assist at retail outlets to sort, move or set up fixtures and goods
- remove snow and ice from sidewalks and grounds to ensure safety
- perform other related duties as assigned
