Michigan Dining is an integral part of the University of Michigan, managing a diverse array of dining operations that span nineteen on-campus cafes and markets, nine residential dining halls, the Michigan Bakery, and the Michigan Catering unit. Job Requirements

  • Associates degree in business, food service management, or culinary arts from an accredited institution or equivalent experience
  • Two to four years of retail or hospitality operational management experience
  • Ability to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to maintain compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Commitment to fostering positive employee relations
  • Willingness to work onsite at Ann Arbor campus
  • Exempt employment status
  • Salary expectations between $42,750 and $49,175 annually

Job Qualifications

  • Associates degree in business, food service management, or culinary arts or relevant combination of education and experience
  • Two to four years of operational management experience in retail or hospitality
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and financial performance
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and HACCP principles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Manage the administrative, operational, and developmental activities of one or more retail dining operations
  • Oversee food and beverage management including menu design and collaboration with culinary staff
  • Manage revenues, expenses, and analyze food, labor, and administrative costs
  • Enforce HACCP and ensure sanitary conditions in all food storage, production, and serving areas
  • Recruit, select, train, evaluate, and discipline retail staff
  • Maintain high customer service standards following Michigan Dining guidelines
  • Support sustainability initiatives, student engagement, and community partnerships
