Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • customer service, sales or prior leadership experience preferred
  • strong time management and critical thinking skills
  • ability to provide the highest level of customer service and leadership at all times
  • ability to actively listen and engage with guests and staff in a positive and professional manner
  • ability to exercise good judgment and problem solving
  • ability to stand for long periods of time on hard surfaces
  • ability to lift 25 pounds
  • preferred software experience includes Word, Outlook, Excel, database operation and data entry, and varied POS systems

Job Qualifications

  • customer service experience
  • sales or prior leadership experience preferred
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • understanding of visual merchandising techniques
  • proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • experience with database operations and data entry
  • familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems
  • ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • strong problem-solving skills and good judgment

Job Duties

  • stay informed about the Museum's products, vendors, and how they relate to the exhibitions and overall mission
  • support the setup, maintenance, and merchandising of products and displays
  • keep up to date with Altru and its point-of-sale (POS) system functions, handling basic sales for memberships, merchandise, tickets, and admissions
  • address guest concerns and complaints, acting as an advocate for both the visitors and the Museum
  • demonstrate a solid understanding of the artwork in the Museum's galleries and the institution's mission and brand
  • stay informed about ongoing and upcoming Museum events and programs
  • support a diverse team of volunteers and Visitor Services Officers in understanding and adhering to best practices
  • serve as a liaison between volunteers and staff, facilitating communication about ongoing promotions, products, challenges, and successes
  • participate in annual inventory processes as needed
  • adhere to the Museum safety and security protocols as trained
  • assist with other tasks and responsibilities as assigned
