Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two to three years of recent cashier or customer service experience
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, Fridays, and weekends
  • Comfortable handling cash and operating retail point-of-sale systems
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Able to work full-time hours
  • Team player with a positive attitude

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Two to three years' recent experience as a cashier or in customer service or equivalent cash management experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle cash transactions accurately
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Basic computer skills for transaction processing
  • Flexible schedule including evenings, Fridays, and at least one weekend day
  • Ability to work full-time hours
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service
  • Ability to contribute positively to a team-oriented workplace environment

Job Duties

  • Remains consistently friendly and courteous to all customers
  • Computes or re-computes bill, itemized lists, and invoices showing amount due
  • Makes change, accepts checks and credit cards, and issues receipts to customers
  • Understands, applies, and follows cashier's standards as written
  • Records amounts received and prepares reports of transactions
  • Applies/processes cash refunds or issues credit memorandums to customers for returned merchandise
  • Promotes Summit Speed Card and processes applications
  • Balances cash drawer and completes closeout sheet each day
  • Answers incoming telephone calls
  • Assists with merchandising duties as needed
  • General housekeeping as necessary
  • Promotes in-store specials
  • Contributes to a positive workplace environment
  • Processes returns and completes paperwork for warranty returns when a return specialist is not available
  • Ensures retail location is clear of missing parts
  • Stocks shelves and counters with merchandise
  • Assists in setting up advertising displays or arranging merchandise on counters to promote sales
  • Stamps, marks, or tags price on merchandise
  • Obtains merchandise requested by customer and places merchandise in a bag or box
  • Assists customers in carrying larger items to their vehicle
  • Answers customer's questions and offers assistance or direction
  • Greets customers when they enter the store and checks packages and receipts when exiting the store
  • Understands, applies, and follows performance standards as written
