Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous baking experience preferred but not required
- Ability to operate bakery equipment safely
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, weekends, and holidays
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Commitment to food safety and hygiene standards

Job Duties
- Prepare, bake, and finish a wide array of bakery items including specialty breads, cookies, cakes, and various pastries
- Produce and decorate custom cakes and fancy desserts according to customer requests and company standards
- Operate and maintain essential bakery equipment such as mixers, ovens, proofers, and slicers safely and efficiently
- Ensure all baked goods adhere to Safeway’s stringent quality, freshness, and food safety guidelines
- Engage directly with customers, providing excellent service, answering product questions, and sharing enthusiasm for the bakery items
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the work area, display cases, and shelving to ensure an appealing presentation for customers
- Actively participate in the company’s core values, including being customer-driven and raising the bar for quality and service
