Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education diploma required
  • one year previous experience in cash handling required
  • previous retail experience desired
  • prior hospitality and restaurant experience preferred
  • previous experience in a luxury medium to large hotel resort preferred
  • basic mathematical skills necessary to make change total guest checks count total bank prepare cash drops total all other charges as relating to pricing
  • ability to effectively operate various office equipment ie facsimile copy machine telephone 10-key adding machine
  • ability to operate a keyboard and computer procedures to handle cashier functions
  • ability to type a minimum of 40 wpm
  • ability to access understand and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system utilizing software such as word excel fidelio micros and microsoft outlook
  • ability to pay attention to detail work in a fast paced environment handle multiple tasks and have a high level of patience
  • ability to multi task complete current task while reviewing the next task due
  • ability to recognize and remember additional supplies may be needed while still in the process of completing the existing task
  • ability to work in a fast paced environment coupled with maintaining a positive work attitude and being able to be cordial polite and professional with fellow co-workers and guests
  • ability to communicate in english language both verbally and in writing
  • ability to deal effectively with customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner this involves listening to the nature of the concern demonstrating empathy with the customer and providing positive and proactive solutions
  • ability to deal effectively with internal and external customers some of whom will require high levels of patience tact and diplomacy to diffuse anger collect accurate information and resolve conflicts

Job Duties

  • Meets and greets guests as they arrive offers assistance and bids a warm farewell to all guests thanks them and asks them to return
  • provide guests the best possible service and makes guests feel important
  • shows a professional attitude at all times particularly with regard to punctuality appearance general manner and responsibility
  • held responsible for all sales transactions and all monies taken in return for retail products
  • ensure the retail spaces are tidy clean and stocked at all times
  • maintain data information on inventory and daily sales
  • maintain log book recording any unusual or attention requiring incidents
  • operates a cash register totals guest checks makes change counts total bank prepares cash drops totals all other charges as relating to pricing
  • ability to interact and work well with other departments within the resort
  • attends all training courses and meetings as deemed necessary and must adhere to training as set by retail management
  • high standards of communication skills including telephone etiquette with all guests and colleagues
  • recognizes the importance of sales in every aspect of the position and is responsible for achieving sales targets as set by retail management
  • adaptable and accountable for all actions
  • ascertain guest satisfaction and in the event of dissatisfaction refers the incident to the manager
  • complies with accounting guideline regarding receipt of payments checks total verification cash drawer and house bank management
  • balances house bank at the end of the shift retrieves and returns bank from vault to work station and return to ensure accountability
  • report all suspicious persons or activities and hazardous or unsafe conditions to the security department
  • provides instructions and or guidance for guest in the event of fire power outage or other emergency situations
  • responds to guest questions provides guest assistance direction and information as requested when working in public areas
  • maintains an open line of communication between guests and management
  • performs any general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by the supervisor
  • must maintain a neat clean and well-groomed appearance as outlined in the employee handbook
  • must be able to work varying shifts and maintain attendance in accordance with the hotel attendance policy
  • ability to comply with hotel rules and regulations including policies
  • performs a variety of other duties as assigned
