Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years of work experience in a customer-facing position
  • Ability to read and write clearly
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic
  • Physical ability to lift 50 pounds and stand or walk for 8 hours
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Clean uniform and secured hair
  • Personal integrity and flexibility
  • Availability Monday through Sunday including holidays

Job Duties

  • Ensure dining room tables are preset neatly with required tableware
  • Ensure all chairs are straightened
  • Ensure water glasses are filled and bread baskets are filled prior to residents’ entry to the dining room
  • Take menu selections and serve meals to the residents and guests
  • Take and fill beverage requests and continue to monitor assigned section for additional requests
  • Be familiar with menu items, especially Chef’s Special and Soup of the Day
  • Be alert to residents’ likes and dislikes regarding food
  • Change fresh flowers on dining tables weekly and add fresh water daily
  • Alert Dining Room Manager about any service issues or disruptions
  • Deliver apartment room service when requested
  • Clear tables after meals and bus table as needed
  • Reset tables with tableware and fresh linens for next service
  • Clean and wipe down glassware and tableware to be free of water spots
  • Follow daily sanitation cleaning schedules including dusting chairs and vacuuming carpet
  • Ensure guest checks are completed accurately
  • Ensure proper storage of food and supplies
  • Attend in-service education programs
  • Be consistent in taking orders and serve in a timely manner
  • Work as a team member
