Job Qualifications
- vocational or technical school diploma
- minimum two years of related work experience
- no supervisory experience required
- excellent communication skills
- ability to maintain professional appearance
- strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- knowledge of wine varieties and service protocols
Job Duties
- Deliver, open and serve bottles of wine and champagne
- respond to guest questions about the origin, vintage and style of various wines
- update and maintain wine lists and the MICROS system
- suggest complementary wines to enhance menu pairing
- attend wine tastings and build relationships with vendors
- request new wines and products
- create and update wine lists
- implement wine promotions and incentive programs
- check and replenish wine cellar inventory, equipment and glassware
- train and educate waiters and bar staff
- verify wine harvest and BIN number
- conduct staff wine tastings
- secure liquors, beers, wines, refrigerators, cabinets and storage areas
