Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to exert medium physical work including lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently
  • Ability to stand for entire shift
  • Ability to maneuver carrying full trays of food and beverages
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Attentiveness, friendliness and courteous service orientation
  • Must attend all required hotel meetings and training
  • Maintain regular attendance as per hotel standards
  • Ability to handle problems effectively including anticipating and solving them
  • Ability to understand and apply complex information
  • Demonstrated initiative and guest service orientation
  • Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Experience in a hotel or related field preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of employees and guests
  • Strong listening and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize functions to meet deadlines
  • Capacity to maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Willingness to cross-train in other hotel-related areas

Job Duties

  • Be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to guests, managers and fellow employees
  • Be familiar with the organization of the restaurants, lounges and room service and understand each job position’s functions
  • Have a thorough knowledge of menus and current specials in applicable outlets
  • Serve guests with food and beverage requirements attentively, courteously and efficiently
  • Pre-bus tables removing soiled dishes after each course
  • Be familiar with operation of the point of sale (P.O.S) system
  • Perform cashiering functions including closing checks and preparing end of shift paperwork
  • Perform opening and closing procedures and side-work duties according to station rotation assignment and checklist
  • Ensure tables and side stands are stocked, tidy and clean
  • Keep beverages at least three quarters full
  • Breakdown trays of soiled dishes and linen in dishroom as per standards
  • Answer the telephone according to standards
  • Consistently upsell food, beverage and promotional items to guests
  • Know locations and usage of fire extinguishers
  • Receive and deliver food and beverage orders and collect payment
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction
