Job Requirements

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a hospitality or customer service role preferred

Job Duties
- Greet and seat guests in the restaurant using all the techniques and steps outlined in the service standards of Marriott hotels
- Ensure that each guest is greeted with warm, friendly enthusiasm and seated at his/her table in the fastest possible time
- Set the tone of aggressive hospitality that continues all through the restaurant during the entire meal period
- Supervise and control seating in the restaurant ensuring guests are seated in stations so no server is overloaded and seating is fair
- Seat guests so every guest receives the fastest and most courteous service at all times
- Report to work in proper uniform and comply with grooming standards required of all Marriott associates
- Follow all departmental rules and regulations including calls for coming in, red sticker policy, requesting time off
- Comply with Marriott's "clean as you go" policy
- Check with supervisor before leaving work area
- Follow host/ess opening and closing checklist thoroughly
- Assign stations to servers and assign sidework following sidework schedules
- Maintain guest flow charts to track number of guests to each station and volume per hour
- Ensure the restaurant entrance has someone to greet guests at all times
- Keep the front of the restaurant spotless
- Check every table to ensure it is clean, spotless, and fully set up before guests are seated
- Check on guests to get feedback on meal quality, service, and address problems promptly, informing supervisors and management as needed
- Schedule servers for breaks in conjunction with supervisor depending on business volumes
- Assist in service whenever needed
- Have excellent knowledge about the city and transportation methods to give helpful suggestions to guests
- Have excellent knowledge about wines and menu items to assist guests and answer questions
- Be knowledgeable about hotel services, operating hours of food and beverage outlets
- Check out all servers at the end of their shifts to ensure tables are set, side work completed, areas clean, and checks closed or returned
- Check all associates for uniform appearance
- Communicate all necessary information to incoming host/ess and supervisor, and maintain communication logs
- Conduct menu classes and taste panels with supervisors, managers, and kitchen staff
- Relieve cashiers for breaks
- Supervise service in the lounge as assigned by management
