Job Requirements

  • A high school or equivalent education is preferred
  • Six months of prior food service experience preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and/or holidays
  • Attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required
  • Compliance with Crowne Plaza Lansing rules and regulations for safe and effective hotel operations
  • Ability to comply with local food and alcohol laws and pass required certifications
  • Physical ability to lift, transport, and maneuver items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to maintain well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours
  • Ability to work indoors in moderate to extreme temperatures

Job Qualifications

  • A high school or equivalent education is preferred
  • Six months of prior food service experience preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and/or holidays
  • Communication skills, written or verbal, in the primary language(s) used in the workplace
  • Basic reading, writing, and math
  • Ability to navigate necessary software and applications
  • Ability to comply with local laws regarding food handling or serving of alcohol, including the ability to take and pass the ServSafe Alcohol Safety class and exam
  • Knowledge of table service standards and appropriate table settings and service ware, as well as knowledge of all menu items and methods of preparation
  • Ability to engage with guests and colleagues

Job Duties

  • Greet and welcome guests with a warm, sincere smile
  • Engage in friendly conversation with guests and accommodate their seating requests
  • Interact with restaurant guests, fellow employees, and managers in a polite, courteous and hospitable manner to ensure gracious hospitality
  • Maintain professional appearance and adhere to grooming standards
  • Be a beacon of warmth, polish and professionalism for our guests
  • Anticipate and accommodate needs of guests
  • Maintain the general cleanliness and orderliness of the entrance area
  • Take and process reservations for guests
  • Assist with incoming calls and answering questions from guests
  • Learn by listening, observing other team members and sharing knowledge while leading by example
  • Work as a part of a team and provide help and support to all fellow team members
  • Assist with clearing, cleaning and resetting tables
