Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least two years of culinary leadership experience
  • Familiarity with unionized kitchen environments preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work full-time with availability on weekdays, weekends, and holidays
  • Solid understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Ability to manage a team of approximately 18 employees

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of leadership experience in high-volume kitchen operations
  • Experience leading unionized teams preferred
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen compliance
  • Proven skills in team development, mentoring, and communication
  • Ability to manage inventory, scheduling, cost control, and budgeting
  • Experience in menu development and food quality standards
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities

Job Duties

  • Lead daily culinary production including meal preparation, food quality and presentation, and compliance with safety and sanitation standards
  • Manage team member productivity and performance, including scheduling, training, mentoring, and conducting evaluations
  • Oversee inventory management, ordering, and cost control to ensure financial profitability
  • Create and implement new menus and individual food items that reflect creativity and quality
  • Perform general management duties such as budget forecasting, report generation, and departmental meeting participation
  • Visually inspect and select quality food and beverage products including fruits, vegetables, meats, fish, and spices
  • Recruit, interview, and onboard new team members to maintain a skilled and motivated kitchen staff
