Job Requirements

  • Must be able to see at a distance of 20 feet and at close range of 12 inches
  • Must be able to distinguish shapes and use peripheral vision to avoid hazards
  • Must be able to communicate clearly
  • Exposure to heat, steam, smoke, and cold
  • Ability to reach heights of approximately 6 feet and depths of 2.5 to 3 feet
  • Must have high level of mobility and flexibility in the workspace
  • Must be able to read, write, and perform addition and subtraction calculations
  • Must control and utilize fingers to write and operate equipment
  • Ability to fit through openings 30 inches wide
  • Must be able to work irregular hours under heavy stress during busy times
  • Able to bend, reach, walk, and carry trays weighing about 50 pounds for distances up to 30 feet
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Exposure to dish and cleaning chemicals

Job Qualifications

  • Basic math skills including addition and subtraction

  • Ability to follow sanitation, safety, and food handling procedures

Job Duties

  • Prepare bakery items according to Perkins standards and specifications
  • Label and date all trays of baked items
  • Observe proper food storage procedures
  • Ensure high standards of food safety
  • Set up and maintain the display cases using proper merchandising techniques
  • Follow proper sanitation procedures in the kitchen, walk-ins, and dry storage areas
  • Clean and sanitize bakery equipment, pans, and utensils
  • Control food cost by portioning products accurately
  • Utilize FIFO standards when preparing items
  • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, prep areas, coolers, and storage areas
  • Follow proper safety procedures regarding food handling and storage
  • Conduct line sweeps and clean as you go throughout the shift
  • Communicate with management and team members about product, safety, and equipment issues
  • Assist other team members with prep, cleaning, and restocking tasks
  • Provide guest service by cooperating with front-of-house staff
