Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- ability to work standing and walking for up to 8 hours
- ability to see at a distance of 20 feet and close range of 12 inches
- able to distinguish shapes and use peripheral vision to avoid hazards
- able to communicate clearly
- capable of reaching heights of about 6 feet and depths of 2 1/2 to 3 feet
- high level of mobility and flexibility in workspace
- capable of time management
- able to read, write, and perform basic calculations
- manual dexterity to write, slice, chop, and operate equipment
- able to fit through openings 30 inches wide
- able to work irregular hours under heavy pressure and stress
- capable of bending, reaching, walking, carrying trays weighing about 50 pounds for distances up to 30 feet
- able to lift up to 50 pounds
- able to handle exposure to heat, steam, smoke, cold, and dish and cleaning chemicals
Job Qualifications
- No prior experience required
- ability to follow recipes and procedures accurately
- basic food safety and sanitation knowledge can be acquired through training
- good communication skills
- ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- basic math skills including addition and subtraction
- ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- ability to work flexible and irregular hours
- willingness to learn and follow OSHA and health department standards
Job Duties
- Bake - prepare bakery items according to Perkins standards and specifications
- label and date all trays of baked items
- observe proper food storage procedures
- ensure high standards of food safety
- set up and maintain display cases using proper merchandising techniques
- work with host and cashier to set up samples, holiday packaging, and merchandising
- follow proper sanitation procedures in kitchen, walk-ins, and dry storage areas
- keep bakery prep and storage areas clean and organized
- clean and sanitize bakery cases and equipment
- control food cost
- ensure products are accurately portioned and prepared as specified by recipes
- utilize FIFO standards when preparing items
- maintain cleanliness of kitchen, prep areas, coolers, and storage areas
- follow proper safety procedures concerning food handling, rotation, and storage
- conduct line sweeps throughout the shift
- clean as you go throughout the shift
- understand OSHA requirements and health department standards
- clean all equipment and areas as directed by management
- anticipate, identify, and correct system breakdowns to maximize guest satisfaction
- communicate with management and coworkers regarding product, service, safety, and equipment issues
- assist team members by prepping items according to recipes and procedures
- assist dishwasher with washing and restocking dishes, pots, pans, and utensils
- assist front of house staff with cleanliness of bakery cases
- provide guest service through communication and cooperation with front of house staff
