Job Qualifications

  • Knife skills knowledge preferably
  • Active state ServeSafe food handler card
  • Positive contributions to the team and positive morale to continue company culture
  • One to two years prior restaurant food prep experience preferred
  • Culinary degree or training desired
  • Prior lead or supervisory experience desired
  • Ability to lead others by mentoring and providing training to meet or exceed guest expectations
  • In-depth knowledge of restaurant food preparation, professional cooking, and knife handling skills
  • Ability to serve guest needs through face-to-face interactions
  • Positive attitude and professional demeanor
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read and interpret recipes, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English
  • Willingness to work varying schedules including holidays, weekends, and alternate shifts
  • Valid current Food Handlers Card or willingness to obtain within 30 days of employment

Job Duties

  • Schedule availability for 2 morning shifts (Thursday and Friday 5am-12pm) and 2 evening shifts (Saturday and Sunday 2pm-10pm), or as business needs change
  • Assign tasks, share management and customer expectations, and provide training and direction to assigned staff
  • Cook all menu items for breakfast and dinner shifts
  • Support an environment of high efficiency, quality, and customer service
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of all menus, recipes, food quality standards, and regulations
  • Assist with overseeing production for line operation
  • Organize the day's prepping for the cooks and restaurant, supervise line set-up and prepping
  • Monitor labor and make recommendations to adjust staffing depending on restaurant needs
  • Assist in directing and correcting the presentation and portioning of food
  • Ensure food leaves the kitchen simultaneously and in a timely fashion, is of high quality, and is prepared according to order
  • Oversee and participate in preparation of food items such as salads, soups, sauces, meats, and vegetables following recipes and guidelines
  • Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods, adding seasoning and adjusting as needed
  • Read menu to estimate food requirements and requisition food from storage
  • Observe and test foods being cooked using a thermometer to ensure proper temperature
  • Carve meats, portion food onto plates, add gravies, sauces, and garnishes
  • Follow all standard food handling, sanitation, and health department guidelines
  • Comply with federal, state, local, and company health, safety, and sanitation standards
  • Wear non-slip, oil-resistant shoes and follow all safety policies
  • Act on safety issues promptly and use personal protective equipment as required
