Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent, preferred
  • must have a Level 2 certification from Court of Master Sommeliers or equivalent certification program with interest in pursuing Advanced Level Certification
  • minimum of two years' experience as a sommelier in a luxury resort, fine dining restaurant, or similar setting
  • food handlers card - Maricopa County
  • TIPS certification

Job Duties

  • Develop and maintain an exceptional wine list that complements the resort's cuisine and guest preferences
  • source and order wines from reputable distributors, ensuring a diverse selection of high-quality offerings
  • establish relationships with wine suppliers and negotiate pricing to maintain cost efficiency
  • conduct regular training sessions for front-of-house staff to enhance their wine knowledge and service skills
  • educate staff on wine pairings, regions, varietals, and service techniques to ensure consistent guest satisfaction
  • provide ongoing mentorship and support to staff to foster confidence and expertise
  • actively engage with guests to recommend wines that enhance their dining experience
  • host wine tastings, pairing events, and special dinners to promote the wine program and create memorable guest experiences
  • address guest inquiries and concerns related to the wine program promptly and professionally
  • oversee inventory, ensuring proper storage conditions and stock levels are maintained
  • conduct regular inventory checks and reconcile records to ensure accuracy
  • monitor and analyze sales data to refine wine offerings and maintain a balanced inventory
  • ensure all wines are served in optimal condition, adhering to storage and serving best practices
  • comply with all health, safety, and licensing regulations
