Job Requirements

  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a job-related field
  • Two years of related experience in planning, coordinating or directing college-level student services activities
  • Ability to supervise and evaluate staff
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to make reasoned decisions in moderately complex situations
  • Proficiency with administrative software tools
  • Willingness to work on-site at CSUMB main campus
  • Ability to participate in 24/7 on-call crisis response rotation
  • Compliance with background check and mandated reporter requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a job-related field
  • Two years of experience in planning, coordinating or directing college-level activities for student services programs or a related field
  • Working knowledge of student development theory and higher education trends
  • Ability to use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
  • Solid administrative and organizational skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to CSUMB's vision and core values

Job Duties

  • Directly supervise, develop, hold accountable and evaluate 10-20 resident advisors and other paraprofessional staff
  • Facilitate an environment of personal growth, leadership development and academic success through training sessions and staff development opportunities
  • Establish a positive atmosphere in the residential community conducive to student academic and developmental success
  • Provide counseling and support to residents experiencing academic, personal or community difficulties
  • Advise resident advisors on learning strategies centered in communication, diversity, sustainability and wellbeing
  • Perform administrative duties including budgeting, health and safety checks, and incident reporting
  • Serve on a 24/7 on-call crisis response rotation and address community standards violations
