Job Requirements
- Must currently have or ability to obtain a California Food Handlers Card or ServSafe Certification within 30 days
- Six months full-time or part-time equivalent experience in food and beverage or retail industries
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs
- Good verbal communication skills
- Ability to use food service and cash register equipment
- Successful completion of background check including criminal records check
- Post-offer pre-employment physical required
Job Qualifications
- Six months full-time or part-time equivalent experience in food and beverage or retail industries
- Ability to plan, organize, direct, and supervise serving, clean-up, and dishwashing operations
- Knowledge of food serving operations and clean-up procedures in volume dining environments
- Understanding of food service sanitation and safety principles
- Skills in supervising, coordinating, and training staff
- Ability to establish and maintain good customer relations
- Effective communication skills with diverse populations
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet multiple deadlines
- Commitment to cooperative behavior with diverse staff and students
Job Duties
- Plan, direct, and supervise serving area, clean-up, and dishwashing operations at assigned facility
- Monitor food presentation, customer levels, and customer comments and complaints to improve service
- Monitor menus, determine serving portions, and ensure serving areas and supplies are ready
- Communicate food shortages to production staff
- Ensure proper sanitation, food handling, and safety in the serving area
- Prepare for daily closing, ensuring food items are removed and properly stored
- Monitor equipment functioning and report maintenance needs
- Assist in event planning and employee trainings as needed
- Enforce organization policies and procedures including operations, personnel, and finance
- Work with supervisors and managers regarding operations, personnel, and administrative problems
- Represent department with campus community and public, maintaining good customer relations
- Perform other duties as assigned
