Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum one year of food service experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Excel, and Teams
  • Maintain a valid Food Management Certificate
  • Maintain a valid Culinary Certificate, preferred
  • Valid Texas driver s license with good driving record
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to travel to off-site locations utilizing personal transportation

Job Duties

  • Monitor food inventories and document according to donor guidelines
  • Prepare three meals per day for clients with adherence to approved menus
  • Accommodate clients with food restrictions and special diets
  • Prepare sack lunches for clients absent during meal times
  • Follow sanitation and safety protocols for food storage, labeling, preparation, and serving
  • Serve food in compliance with enterprise and CACFP standards
  • Ensure accurate documentation for CACFP, HAWC, Houston Food Bank, and End Hunger Network
  • Clean equipment and kitchen surfaces during and after meal preparation
  • Log refrigerator and freezer temperatures daily
  • Maintain proper uniform and personal hygiene standards
  • Supervise interns and volunteers to ensure compliance with safety and sanitation
  • Ensure cleanliness of dining area tables and floors by interns
  • Maintain freshness and quality of prepared food items
  • Refrigerate or store food items not served immediately
  • Substitute donated products when appropriate
  • Wash dishes according to City of Houston guidelines
  • Inspect donated and purchased food upon receipt
  • Reject damaged or infested food items
  • Adjust food inventories to reflect usage and receipt
  • Attend required training and in-services
  • Perform other assigned duties as needed
