Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in a caregiving role preferred
  • ability to communicate effectively
  • knowledge of HIPAA and privacy regulations
  • ability to lift and transfer residents safely
  • ability to follow safety and infection control protocols
  • ability to perform housekeeping and meal service tasks
  • willingness to complete state-required certifications
  • dependable and compassionate
  • willingness to attend mandatory training sessions

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in assisted living or residential care preferred
  • understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and memory care practices beneficial
  • ability to follow detailed instructions and resident service plans
  • strong communication skills
  • basic knowledge of infection control and safety procedures
  • ability to maintain confidentiality
  • physical ability to assist with resident mobility
  • willingness to participate in ongoing training and certification

Job Duties

  • Complies with established facility and department policies and procedures
  • keeps all information about residents, resident families and resident condition private and confidential per HIPAA and facility standards and policies
  • assists the residents in a manner conducive to their safety, comfort and independence level as outlined in their Service Plans
  • reports any unusual observation or condition to the management staff on duty
  • assists in the personal care of the residents as needed and as listed on the resident's Service Plan
  • follows posted directions in the event of a fire alarm or drill and assists with the prompt evacuation of residents
  • assists residents with ambulation as needed or to and from various areas in the facility
  • safely lifts and transfers residents according to facility policy
  • orients residents to time, place and person as well as activity as needed
  • performs housekeeping tasks as needed in resident apartments and throughout the facility
  • assists with admission of new residents and general orientation to room and facility
  • assists in meal service in the dining room including serving food and drinks, cleanup and delivery of meal trays to resident apartments
  • performs all duties in a safe manner and follows infection control and universal precautions practices
  • maintains documentation as required
  • reads Resident Service Plans on a daily basis
  • creates an atmosphere of warmth and personal interest and promotes a calm environment
  • fosters an attitude of respect for the elderly, supervision and for peers
  • carries out other responsibilities as directed by the Supervisor
  • maintains certifications as required
  • attends and completes all mandatory training and meetings
