Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • experience in senior dining
  • strong team player
  • 40-50 hour work week with flexible hours
  • knowledge of Google Workspace, Microsoft, POS systems, and ADP
  • verbal and writing abilities to communicate and work effectively with various levels of staff, residents, family members, and the public
  • numerical ability to make computations for work records and recipe preparation
  • motor coordination and manual dexterity for food preparation and dietary equipment operation
  • willingness to perform routine repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions
  • ability to read understand and follow recipe directions diet orders and work assignments
  • able and willing to work flexible hours, including emergency situations
  • must be patient and tolerant toward staff residents and family members

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • experience in senior dining
  • strong team player

  • numerical ability for recipe preparation and record keeping
  • motor coordination and manual dexterity for food preparation and equipment operation
  • ability to read and follow recipe directions and work assignments
  • patience and tolerance toward staff, residents, and families
  • preferred: B.S. degree in culinary arts, food services technology/management or related field
  • A.O.S. degree in culinary arts or culinary certificate
  • minimum three to five years of progressive culinary/kitchen management experience
  • extensive catering experience
  • knowledge of food and catering trends focusing on quality, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
  • computer proficiency including G-Suite, Microsoft Office, Outlook, email, and internet
  • willingness to participate in patient satisfaction programs
  • manager ServSafe certification (must obtain within 90 days of employment)

Job Duties

  • create a culture that is resident directed and focused on identifying and highlighting resident needs
  • work directly with culinary leadership to provide service expectations and elevate cooperation between staff
  • speak often to residents to identify likes and dislikes and develop service recovery plans
  • educate associates on creating a safe healthy work environment
  • suggest topics and lead learning circles focused on resident experience
  • involve residents in experience decisions and solicit solutions to community issues
  • serve as first point of contact for residents and guests
  • support residents and guests with questions, concerns, and emergencies
  • support community operations to ensure high levels of resident satisfaction
  • produce a monthly newsletter and calendar of events
  • adhere to the monthly budget and seek ways to improve resident experience
  • plan and implement special seasonal events
  • set standards for dining room and special event services
  • participate in conference calls and companywide trainings
  • integrate into campus senior leadership
  • build relationships and market programs
  • serve food according to portion control procedures
  • prepare food according to standard recipes and special requests
  • prepare meals according to planned menus
  • perform other duties as assigned
