Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • maintain complete knowledge of all resort facilities/services and hours of operations
  • maintain complete knowledge of all guest room layouts, bed types, décor, appointments and locations
  • understand room availability for any given day
  • apply revenue management codes and offer packages, rates and promotions
  • know entertainment and special events scheduled in the resort and surrounding areas
  • be knowledgeable of the website and its offerings
  • comply with all hotel and departmental policies and procedures
  • access all necessary functions of the computer system according to standards
  • set up work station with supplies and maintain cleanliness
  • answer telephone calls promptly with proper etiquette
  • respond to email requests within 24 hours using correct correspondence etiquette
  • apply sales training techniques to all calls
  • process reservation requests, changes and cancellations via phone, fax, mail, central system or travel agencies
  • ascertain callers’ needs using open-ended questions
  • create a positive selling environment
  • obtain all required information for bookings
  • provide accurate reservation coding and typed dialogue
  • enthusiastically describe accommodations and amenities
  • access and update guest history records
  • accommodate and note special guest requests
  • sell appropriate rated rooms
  • promote and sell holiday and other packages on designated dates
  • verify availability and suggest alternatives for sold-out dates
  • explain guarantee and cancellation policies
  • assign and communicate confirmation/cancellation numbers
  • collect email, mailing address, and phone number for all reservations
  • set up proper billing
  • verify reservation accuracy
  • input information to inform other departments
  • send prospect guest information
  • input manual reservations promptly
  • research disputed unpaid travel commissions
  • review coaching calls with supervisors
  • support environmental commitments
  • report safety hazards immediately
  • work evenings until at least 7 pm
  • follow shift schedules including weekends
  • be willing to cross train with the front desk
