Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- minimum 1 year of cooking experience preferred
- willingness to work rotating 8-hour shifts
- availability to work at least one weekend day and two weekdays
- ability to follow detailed recipes and food safety protocols
- capability to use commercial cooking equipment safely
- ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
- strong time management and organizational skills
- ability to work under direction and collaborate with team
- effective communication skills in English
- physical capability to perform kitchen duties
- adherence to hospital policies and procedures
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- 1 year of cooking and directly related work experience preferred
- 2 years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience
- ability to be a team player
- ability to speak, write, and understand English at a level appropriate for the job
- ability to take direction from patient care providers including age-related requirements
- ability to work with diverse customers and coworkers regardless of race, gender, disease process, lifestyle, religious or cultural beliefs, or treatment
Job Duties
- Prepares complex hot entrees, side dishes, and baked goods as part of a rotating cycle menu
- uses proper cooking techniques and commercial cooking equipment
- keeps records of food prepared, served, and discarded
- maintains clean and sanitary work areas and equipment
- follows all HAACP and safety sanitation procedures
- requisitions product from storerooms accurately
- supports trayline and catering functions
- assists in cleanup of kitchen and trayline
- conforms to dress code, timesheets, and other policies
- manages resources to prevent waste and ensure timely completion of tasks
- ensures compliance with established recipes for product consistency
- follows hospital infection prevention and safety guidelines
- observes portion control techniques
- disposes of trash properly
- seeks guidance when necessary
- washes and sanitizes all service and cookware according to health regulations
