Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • minimum 1 year of cooking experience preferred
  • willingness to work rotating 8-hour shifts
  • availability to work at least one weekend day and two weekdays
  • ability to follow detailed recipes and food safety protocols
  • capability to use commercial cooking equipment safely
  • ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
  • strong time management and organizational skills
  • ability to work under direction and collaborate with team
  • effective communication skills in English
  • physical capability to perform kitchen duties
  • adherence to hospital policies and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • 1 year of cooking and directly related work experience preferred
  • 2 years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience
  • ability to be a team player
  • ability to speak, write, and understand English at a level appropriate for the job
  • ability to take direction from patient care providers including age-related requirements
  • ability to work with diverse customers and coworkers regardless of race, gender, disease process, lifestyle, religious or cultural beliefs, or treatment

Job Duties

  • Prepares complex hot entrees, side dishes, and baked goods as part of a rotating cycle menu
  • uses proper cooking techniques and commercial cooking equipment
  • keeps records of food prepared, served, and discarded
  • maintains clean and sanitary work areas and equipment
  • follows all HAACP and safety sanitation procedures
  • requisitions product from storerooms accurately
  • supports trayline and catering functions
  • assists in cleanup of kitchen and trayline
  • conforms to dress code, timesheets, and other policies
  • manages resources to prevent waste and ensure timely completion of tasks
  • ensures compliance with established recipes for product consistency
  • follows hospital infection prevention and safety guidelines
  • observes portion control techniques
  • disposes of trash properly
  • seeks guidance when necessary
  • washes and sanitizes all service and cookware according to health regulations
