Job Requirements
- High school degree or equivalent
- Minimum of three years related experience in direct food preparation
- Valid driver’s license in good standing
- Ability to collaborate, communicate, and build team cohesion effectively

- Proficiency in English
- Ability to multi-task and work in team-oriented environment

Job Qualifications
- High school degree or equivalent
- Minimum of three years experience in direct food preparation
- Further education in culinary arts a plus
- Formal certification in food services preferred
- Experience collaborating with external service vendors
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced and stressful environment
- Basic understanding and commitment to person-centered, recovery-oriented, trauma-informed approaches
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver’s license in good standing
- Experience working within homeless services preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus
- Experience with human service shelters or programs a plus
- Lived experience with homelessness and/or recovery a plus
Job Duties
- Assist Head chef and Sous chef in training and overseeing volunteers and staff in food preparation and service activities
- Prepare and distribute meals
- Serve nutritious, well-balanced meals
- Use donated food items first whenever possible
- Set up catering carts
- Ensure timely meal delivery and maintenance of quality standards, including proper equipment operation and maintenance
- Assure the kitchen is safe and all equipment is clean and sanitized
- Minimize waste while ensuring food production quality standards
- Watch meal count trends to plan accordingly and ensure proper portion sizes
- Practice and ensure high standards in food safety and sanitation, following HACCP procedures and SERV Safe habits
- Receive and store food from vendors and donors, inspecting for quality and damage
- Perform sanitation duties including pot washing, cleaning equipment, sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning kitchen equipment and storage areas
- Operate dishwashing machine as needed
- Maintain and clean walk-in freezer and dry storage areas
- Complete written reports of any incidents or accidents and notify appropriate staff
- Work one scheduled weekend day per week and rotate holiday coverage
- Make food bank orders and pick-ups as needed
- Adhere to agency code of conduct
- Perform other duties as assigned
