Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental health or related field
  • coursework in microbiology, chemistry, and biology
  • eligibility or current registration with Montana State Board of Sanitarians
  • valid Montana driver’s license and vehicle insurance
  • emergency preparedness training including ICS certifications
  • ability to work independently and maintain attendance
  • ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • willingness to travel and conduct inspections in various weather conditions
  • commitment to safety and regulatory compliance

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental health or related field
  • coursework in microbiology, chemistry, and biology
  • 2+ years of environmental health experience preferred
  • knowledge of public health practices and food safety
  • ability to inspect and enforce health regulations
  • excellent customer service and communication skills
  • skill in report preparation and recordkeeping
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • valid Montana driver’s license and reliable vehicle

Job Duties

  • Monitor standardization of inspection methods
  • research and recommend protective measures against environmental hazards
  • schedule and conduct inspections of licensed establishments
  • evaluate compliance with health regulations
  • review and approve plans and permits
  • educate public on environmental health practices
  • participate in environmental health program implementation
  • represent RiverStone in community groups
  • investigate disease outbreaks and public health nuisances
  • prepare reports and correspondence
  • attend meetings and training
  • respond to public inquiries
  • communicate with supervisors and stakeholders
  • participate in quality improvement projects
