Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience in LTL operations
  • minimum three years of field safety responsibility
  • strong communication skills orally and in writing
  • high motivation and ability to work with little supervision
  • effective multi-tasking and prioritizing abilities
  • safety professional credentials such as OSHA 10/30, NATMI CSS, CDS, BCSP STS, ASP, CSP preferred
  • prior CDL driver or trainer experience preferred
  • ability to work in varied weather conditions and fluctuating shifts
  • proficiency with office and communication technology

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience in LTL operations
  • three or more years of field safety experience
  • strong oral and written communication skills
  • ability to work independently with high motivation and effective multi-tasking
  • professional safety certifications such as OSHA 10/30, NATMI CSS, CDS, BCSP STS, ASP, CSP, or Smith System preferred
  • prior experience as a CDL driver or trainer preferred
  • ability to operate in varying weather and work shift conditions
  • proficiency in using office equipment, cell phones, computer technology, and regulatory websites

Job Duties

  • Develop safety culture rooted in exposure identification and elimination
  • organize work to impact safety strategy and initiatives
  • ensure safety improvement plans and corrective actions reduce exposure, injury, and collisions
  • train and develop field leadership through instructor-led sessions, coaching, and prepared curriculum
  • verify effectiveness of field safety committees and safety initiatives
  • ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local transportation laws and equipment regulations
  • participate in annual DOT compliance audits
  • monitor company CSA scores to mitigate exposure and remain under intervention
  • review and investigate vehicle accidents and injuries
  • ensure emergency response and notification protocols for accidents, injuries, and hazardous material releases
  • assist with safety representation in legal matters
  • recognize safety award recipients and promote positive safety behaviors
  • maintain trust and integrity in communication with terminal operations
  • travel to multiple site locations 50-75% of the time
