Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum two years of related program development experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups
  • Ability to work extended hours and travel frequently
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and specialized equipment
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Completion of required emergency management training within one year
  • Willingness to work on-site without telecommuting
  • Ability to perform face-to-face interactions
  • Ability to drive and travel up to 60%
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two years of related experience in program development
  • Employment experience in technical, administrative, or planning capacity preferred
  • Disaster response or recovery leadership experience preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate poise, tact, and diplomacy
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and excellent multitasking abilities
  • Organized, flexible, and able to prioritize multiple demands
  • Knowledge of emergency management principles and practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
  • Skilled in operating office and emergency management equipment
  • Ability to work in adverse environments
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Completion of required emergency management training courses within one year

Job Duties

  • Serve as regional coordinator for identification, training, and development of ISTF contract members
  • Coordinate and deliver emergency management and disaster programs and training with ISTF members and stakeholders
  • Advise and assist local officials with ISTF programs and disaster assistance
  • Facilitate, participate, and observe emergency exercises at local, state, and federal levels
  • Assist in verification and identification of facilities for disaster recovery
  • Brief ISTF members and officials during emergencies and recovery phases
  • Coordinate activities with deployed ISTF members at Disaster District Emergency Operations Center and State Operations Center
  • Provide guidance to local jurisdictions in establishing regional support teams
  • Liaison between TDEM, ISTF members, local emergency management, and other disaster responders
  • Perform as a field training officer and mentor in areas of expertise
  • Assist in training and data gathering for initial damage surveys and needs assessments
  • Perform related work as assigned
  • Maintain regular attendance and work extended hours when needed
  • Travel up to 60% and ability to drive required
