Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, engineering, or related field
  • minimum 5 years’ experience in HSE management in a medium to large warehouse or manufacturing setting
  • supervisory experience managing 2 or more employees
  • extensive knowledge of health and safety regulations in the United States
  • strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office applications
  • excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • English proficiency
  • ability to travel up to 30% of the time within the United States
  • physically able to perform duties including lifting up to 70 lbs and wearing required personal protective equipment
  • knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements including OSHA, EPA, DOT
  • ability to lead and mentor teams
  • effective training skills
  • strong analytical and project management capabilities
  • ability to work under stress and manage changing environments
  • team-oriented with leadership qualities

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in health, safety, and environmental management in medium to large warehouse or manufacturing facility with supervisory responsibility
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, engineering, or related field
  • extensive knowledge of US health and safety regulations and standards
  • proven ability to develop and implement effective health and safety programs
  • professional certifications such as CSP or CIH highly desirable
  • strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office
  • English language proficiency
  • bilingual preferred
  • intermediate mathematical skills including spreadsheet use
  • excellent training, communication, supervisory, and analytical skills
  • strong project management and attention to detail
  • ability to deliver presentations
  • effective self-management and work orientation
  • adaptability to change
  • interpersonal and leadership skills
  • motivated team player with focus on quality and service excellence
  • willingness and ability to travel up to 30% within the United States

Job Duties

  • Supports and promotes safe practices and environmental commitments in alignment with company policies and compliance requirements
  • conducts pre-operational risk assessments on RFPs and new sites and implements risk mitigation measures
  • manages and mentors a regional team of health and safety professionals
  • builds positive partnerships with facility leadership serving as safety point of contact
  • conducts regular site audits and inspections to identify hazards, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions with follow-up
  • represents DSV before OSHA, EPA, FDA, and other regulatory agencies and addresses site-level issues
  • fosters teamwork and pride in the company safety program
  • ensures compliance with health, safety and environmental laws and certifications including PIT certification, first aid, emergency plans, fire prevention, and hazard communication
  • coordinates incident investigations and makes recommendations for corrective actions
  • ensures alignment of HSE systems with quality management systems
  • implements emergency procedures
  • delivers regional HSE training
  • maintains up-to-date risk registers and hazard analyses
  • assists with OSHA reporting and workers’ compensation administration
  • maintains hazardous materials handling and compliance documentation
  • oversees hazardous materials transportation according to regulations
  • develops employee training for hazardous materials handling
