Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Commercial driver's license with double and triple endorsements, HAZMAT, tanker
- Clear driving record
- Ability to drive tractor-trailer combinations
- Ability to operate specialized fueling equipment
- Physical ability to climb ladders and handle heavy equipment
- Willingness to work full time with varied schedule
- Ability to comply with health, safety, and security policies
Job Qualifications
- Commercial driver's license with tanker and Hazmat endorsements
- Ability to coordinate and work with a variety of personnel
- Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable with frequent change
- Ability to understand, retain, and deliver information verbally and in writing
- Ability to frequently climb ladders and pull hoses weighing 60 lb or more
- Knowledge of fueling operations and delivery procedures
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
Job Duties
- Drive a tractor-trailer combination or truck with a capacity of at least 26,000 GVW to transport and deliver fuel
- Follow appropriate safety procedures when transporting dangerous goods
- Check vehicles before driving to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order
- Maintain logs of working hours and vehicle service and repair status following applicable state and federal regulations
- Complete meter tickets when loads are delivered
- Check all load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
- Read bills of lading to determine assignment details
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles
- Read and interpret maps to determine vehicle routes
- Couple and uncouple trailers by changing trailer jack positions and connecting or disconnecting air and electrical lines
- Collect and verify delivery instructions and routes
- Drive trucks to weigh stations before and after loading and along routes to comply with state regulations
- Operate communication equipment such as CB radios and telephones to exchange information
- Check conditions of trailers after unloading to ensure no damage
- Crank trailer landing gear up and down to secure vehicles
- Climb ladders to inspect loads for security
- Install and remove special equipment such as tire chains
- Collaborate with other drivers as part of a driving team
- Perform emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires and installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs
- Monitor instruments, gauges, and meters to detect and report problems
- Read automatic gauges to determine flow rate of oil and oil amount in tanks
- Start pumps and open valves or use automated equipment to regulate oil flow in pipelines and tanks
- Conduct general housekeeping including cleaning and oil spill wipe up
- Maintain and repair equipment or report malfunctions
- Prepare calculations for oil receipts and deliveries
