Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
  • minimum 3-5 years of experience in recreation program management or youth services
  • proven leadership ability
  • experience managing budgets and contracts
  • ability to supervise full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff
  • excellent organizational skills
  • strong problem-solving capabilities
  • ability to work independently under general supervision
  • good interpersonal skills for community outreach
  • crisis intervention skills
  • valid driver's license
  • ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in recreation, youth development, or related field preferred
  • experience in program development and community outreach
  • leadership experience supervising diverse staff and volunteers
  • proficiency in budget management
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to collaborate with community organizations
  • knowledge of youth and family program development
  • crisis intervention training or experience
  • ability to plan and implement events

  • skills in marketing and promotion of community programs

Job Duties

  • Assess community recreation program needs
  • research new strategies for meeting those needs and implement programs
  • plan, implement, and supervise programs and community activities and events
  • recruit, train, and supervise department staff including crisis intervention
  • supervise program specialists for K-5 programs and summer camps
  • supervise teen program specialists and staff
  • supervise and support Welcome and Registration staff and procedures
  • determine appropriate programs and adjust existing ones with program specialists
  • prepare and monitor budgets and expenditures
  • provide communications and resources to the community
  • collaborate with communication team on marketing materials
  • work with external organizations and contractors
  • modify and grow service offerings through outreach
  • collaborate with Youth Services Division specialists
  • partner with Intervention and Outreach specialists for safe environment
  • supervise planning and implementation of facility events and activities
  • coordinate facility and maintenance needs
  • address customer complaints
  • assess risks and ensure participant safety
  • facilitate work group meetings
  • perform other assigned duties
