Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred
- Equivalent work experience considered in lieu of degree
- Two to three years of responsible experience in recreation-related programs, preferably full-time in a municipal government setting
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong problem-solving and creative thinking skills
- Must have availability for consistent on-site presence during events and planning phases
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in recreation administration, event management, hospitality, or closely related field preferred
- Three years of responsible experience in recreation-related programs or large-scale community events, preferably full-time in a municipal setting
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Proven leadership and team management abilities
- Knowledge of event planning, vendor management, permitting processes, budgeting, and volunteer coordination
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with marketing and community outreach
- Skilled in using event management software such as Active.net
Job Duties
- Oversee planning and execution of city-wide events such as concerts, festivals, movies, and seasonal activations
- Serve as primary liaison for vendors, sponsors, performers, and community partners
- Manage event logistics including permitting, budgeting, staging, and volunteer coordination
- Input event logistics and registration data into Active.net and prepare staff and volunteer schedules
- Conduct post-event evaluations and prepare recommendations for improvements
- Prepare agendas and serve as staff liaison for Commissions or Boards supporting Department events
- Collaborate with Communications to develop promotional materials, scripts, and talking points for high-profile events
