Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Equivalent work experience considered in lieu of degree
  • Two to three years of responsible experience in recreation-related programs, preferably full-time in a municipal government setting
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong problem-solving and creative thinking skills
  • Must have availability for consistent on-site presence during events and planning phases

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in recreation administration, event management, hospitality, or closely related field preferred
  • Three years of responsible experience in recreation-related programs or large-scale community events, preferably full-time in a municipal setting
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities
  • Knowledge of event planning, vendor management, permitting processes, budgeting, and volunteer coordination
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with marketing and community outreach
  • Skilled in using event management software such as Active.net

Job Duties

  • Oversee planning and execution of city-wide events such as concerts, festivals, movies, and seasonal activations
  • Serve as primary liaison for vendors, sponsors, performers, and community partners
  • Manage event logistics including permitting, budgeting, staging, and volunteer coordination
  • Input event logistics and registration data into Active.net and prepare staff and volunteer schedules
  • Conduct post-event evaluations and prepare recommendations for improvements
  • Prepare agendas and serve as staff liaison for Commissions or Boards supporting Department events
  • Collaborate with Communications to develop promotional materials, scripts, and talking points for high-profile events
