Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree or two years of college in a recreation study field
  • Three years professional, verifiable experience in recreation program/s and supervision of subordinate staff, activities, and programs for various age groups
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License, with a good driving record
  • Must obtain CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification within 30 days of hire date
  • Knowledge of Logic Pro 10 for positions assigned to 505 Teen Center Recording Studio
  • Must complete a 45-hour Childcare Certification Program approved by the State of Florida within one year of hire for out of school positions
  • Ability to pass scheduled physical exams in compliance with Florida Department of Health for out of school positions
  • Child Development Accreditation preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or two years of college in a recreation study field

  • Ability to plan, organize, supervise and instruct special activities for youth, teens and adults
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form
  • Ability to operate personal computers and software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to work independently and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public

Job Duties

  • Teaches, supervises, organizes, and instructs a variety of recreation activities and sports for youth, teens, adults in a recreation setting
  • Trains, schedules and supervises designated staff and volunteers
  • Assists with a variety of special events, recreation programs and sporting events
  • Provides guidance on work related matters and assists to resolve employee issues, if necessary
  • Coordinates and promotes special events, advertising, and vendor coordination
  • Promotes interest in programs through publicity, flyers and social media
  • Ensures that recreation facilities and equipment are used properly
