Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent two years of college coursework
  • Four years of experience in aquatics or similar field
  • Two years of supervisory experience
  • Strong knowledge of aquatics principles and regulations
  • Effective supervision and training skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Strong planning, organizational and problem solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and office equipment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • High attention to detail
  • Certification preference includes STAR Lifeguard Trainer, StarGuard Instructor level 2, Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer
  • CPR/First Aid for Professional Rescuer or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Valid Oregon driver’s license within 30 days if operating a vehicle for district business
  • Ability to work varied schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various environmental conditions

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • High attention to detail
  • Certifications such as STAR Lifeguard Trainer, StarGuard Instructor level 2, or Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer preferred

Job Duties

  • Manage and oversee all personnel matters including hiring, training, supervision, performance management, and evaluation
  • Develop and maintain a proactive work ethic and team-driven environment
  • Staff scheduling and time management including leave requests approval
  • Lead development, implementation, and evaluation of aquatic programs and services
  • Maintain pool block schedule and coordinate with partner organizations
  • Identify and respond to community needs and program trends
  • Communicate and promote facilities and aquatic programs through marketing plans
  • Work with Community Relations and Marketing to distribute promotional materials
  • Ensure facility maintenance and compliance with health codes
  • Monitor safety and security and provide staff training and certifications
  • Participate in aquatics best practices organizations and trends
  • Foster relationships with community organizations and respond to inquiries
  • Coordinate facility use agreements and contractual obligations
  • Manage budgets and financial performance
  • Purchase equipment and supplies as needed
  • Maintain required records and documentation
  • Ensure regular attendance and contribute to positive work culture
