Job Requirements
- Complete a background investigation with favorable results
- Some federal jobs allow education substitution, but this position does not
- Education completed in foreign colleges may be considered if equivalent
- Ability to lift frequently up to 60 lbs and occasionally up to 75 lbs
- Pass a basic physical examination
- Willingness to work unusual hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and travel
- Must pass drug testing and be subject to random testing
- Must be a U.S. citizen or non-U.S. national residing in the U.S. territory for three or more consecutive years
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service

Job Qualifications
- Understand and apply recreation programming principles and techniques
- Have practical outdoor experience and knowledge of recreational equipment and outdoor field rules
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills
- Effectively interact with the public
- Basic computer literacy
- Experience in cash handling and clerical work
- Ability to lift frequently up to 60 lbs and occasionally up to 75 lbs
- Pass a basic physical examination
- Willingness to work unusual hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Willingness and ability to travel and stay overnight in and out of state
- Successful completion of background investigation (Tier 1 Level)
Job Duties
- Plan, direct, and manage outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, camping, canoeing, boating, hiking, bicycling, trips, outings, nature walks, and aquatic outings
- Maintain expert knowledge of outdoor programs and Nebraska local area resources
- Work independently and solve problems in remote locations
- Implement higher-level directives and develop procedures to ensure high standards
- Provide input to the budget process and monitor financial goals
- Coordinate with off-base agencies, participants, volunteers, and paid staff
- Provide training and maintain CPR and First Aid certifications for all program staff
- Arrange supplies, transportation, and services needed for programs
- Ensure maintenance of vehicles and program equipment
- Develop and publicize programs using various strategies
- Prepare presentations and give briefings about the Outdoor Adventure Program
- Develop workshops, seminars, and educational classes to support outdoor trips
