Buncombe County Parks & Recreation is a public sector organization dedicated to enhancing community wellness through the maintenance and operation of recreational facilities and programs. Serving the residents of Buncombe County, this department offers a variety of outdoor and indoor activities designed to promote health, social interaction, and environmental appreciation. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum one year experience in customer services or programming for youth, adults, and/or seniors
- Valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina
- Ability to perform medium physical work, including lifting up to 50 pounds
- Willingness to work variable shifts including weekday evenings and weekends
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to interact with the public professionally and courteously
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one year experience in customer service or programming for youth, adults, and/or seniors
- Ability to operate small office equipment and computers
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team and independently
- Valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Carolina
- Ability to perform physically active tasks in various weather conditions
Job Duties
- Promote good public relations and communication with citizens using the park and recreation facilities
- Participate in various fee collection, event registration, and evaluation activities
- Perform a variety of duties associated with the daily use of park areas and facilities
- Work weekends, evenings and nights as needed
- Perform event setup and custodial duties
- Assist with outdoor recreation activities including hiking, biking, canoeing, camping, and kayaking
- Provide excellent customer service and information to park patrons
