Job Requirements

  • bachelors degree from an accredited institution with a major in Recreation and Parks Administration, Physical Education, Sports Management, Turf Management, or closely related field
  • minimum of three years experience in community recreation, parks operations, or sports turf management
  • one year recreational management experience preferred
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • preferred knowledge of Adobe, Canva, or similar software
  • availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to work in outdoor conditions
  • ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs
  • ability to stoop, climb, and bend
  • valid driver’s license

Job Qualifications

  • bachelors degree from an accredited institution with a major in Recreation and Parks Administration, Physical Education, Sports Management, or closely related field
  • three years experience in community recreation and parks operations
  • one year recreational management experience preferred
  • comprehensive knowledge of recreation programs and parks administration
  • knowledge of life-safety and liability issues related to parks and recreation programs
  • availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • valid driver’s license

Job Duties

  • ensure that designated recreation facilities are clean, operationally ready, and properly scheduled for use
  • maintain accurate records including activity/program plans, participant registrations, income and expense reports, and accident/incident reports
  • act as division manager in the absence of the Parks and Recreation Superintendent
  • maintain frequent contact with program participants, other departments, and the general public
  • schedule and manage staffing for community centers, special events, and league personnel
  • assist in the preparation and monitoring of the Parks and Recreation Division budget
  • make purchase recommendations to the Parks and Recreation Superintendent
  • recruit, schedule, and supervise volunteers, instructors, coaches, and sports officials
  • perform job duties when subordinate staff are unavailable
  • serve as liaison between the Parks and Recreation Division and community sports league participants and officials
  • plan, lead, and support sports, recreational, and community-wide special events in cooperation with civic groups and other agencies
  • inform the public of parks and recreation events through local media and information outlets
  • maintain comprehensive and accurate program, facility, and activity records
  • cooperate and coordinate with other departments and local agencies to support community parks and recreation goals
  • respond to emergency or problematic situations at recreation and parks facilities including after hours
  • attend professional conferences and training
  • perform other assigned duties as required
