  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation or related field or equivalent experience preferred
  • Two years of experience in recreation programming or community event coordination preferred
  • Familiarity with positive youth development principles preferred
  • Experience with venue coordination and rental procedures preferred
  • Knowledge of community development concepts preferred
  • Experience working with recreation software preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred

Job Duties

  • Assist in the coordination of the City’s recreational programs including leagues, instructional programs, youth outreach, special events, and community access
  • Schedule adult and youth programs for recreation services or event offerings
  • Organize and submit marketing plans and community event permits
  • Provide information for program service delivery including research, planning, and evaluation
  • Enforce safety standards and City policies during events and facilities usage
  • Take care of equipment and conduct regular inspections
  • Monitor event setup and tear down, ensuring compliance with policies
  • Coordinate with event permit holders for equipment check out and facility walkthroughs
  • Serve as onsite liaison for programs and event permit holders
  • Complete after-action event reports
  • Act as lead worker facilitating the work of part-time and seasonal employees
  • Compile and monitor records and statistics for programs and events
  • Utilize recreation programming software for booking, maintenance, and registration
  • Update public communication platforms such as the City weather line and website
  • Support scheduling of programs and events with staff
  • Assist in organizing recreation guide and website content including marketing materials
  • Support Park Operations and Events staff during community events
  • Assist with set-up and tear-down of equipment such as tents, chairs, and fencing
  • Coordinate performance logistics and respond to performer and supplier needs
  • Provide excellent customer service during performances
  • Assist with cleaning and maintenance of performance venues
  • Perform related duties to meet City needs
  • Promote teamwork and professional ethics in all conduct
  • Adhere to City and Department policies, training, attendance, and workplace attire standards
