Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Recreation, Physical Education or related field
  • Minimum of two years of experience in programming recreation activities for children, adolescents, adults, and senior citizens
  • Equivalent combination of related training and experience acceptable
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain valid Florida Driver’s License within six months of hire date

Job Duties

  • Monitor all quality components of recreational programs and compile records and reports to meet accreditation, licensing, funding, or national organization requirements
  • Liaison with accrediting agencies, sponsors, parents, participants, event committees, boards of directors, national organizations, and other Departments as necessary
  • Coordinate registration of participants in programs or events
  • Maintain, analyze, and evaluate attendance, program, participant, and performance records
  • Plan, organize, supervise, and evaluate programs and scope of services
  • Maintain a budget to ensure funds are saved and spent wisely
  • Drive city vehicles for field trips and be available during events including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Assist with holiday events such as Easter and Fourth of July
  • Understand the philosophy and objectives of municipal parks, recreation, and cultural arts programming
