Job Requirements

  • pass a post-employment offer physical examination and drug screen
  • certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation cpr and first aid within three months of employment
  • valid driver’s license if driving is required
  • graduation from high school or equivalent
  • two years of group leadership experience in recreation or a college degree in recreation or related field
  • ability to work with diverse populations
  • undergo background checks as required

Job Qualifications

  • graduation from high school
  • two years of group leadership experience in a recreation setting
  • concentration in one or more specialties in recreation or sports
  • college degree in recreation or related field may substitute experience
  • ability to plan and supervise recreational programs
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • experience in community engagement and program development

Job Duties

  • Plan coordinate supervise and instruct various athletic recreation activities
  • lead and officiate one or more activities as requested
  • participate in agency planning research and training budget and action plan preparation
  • collaborate with other recreation agencies to develop recreational facilities including athletics environmental education special events community recreation centers community engagement and special facilities
  • complete logistic support and supervisory assignments in special activities
  • promote and publicize activities with the media
  • train recreation leaders and associates in recreation principles
  • recruit and train temporary staff and volunteers
  • ensure safety of participants
  • maintain necessary records and submit required reports
