Job Requirements

  • Sixteen years of age or older at date of hire
  • One to two years of paid experience in a recreation program-type setting depending on level
  • Valid tuberculosis certificate
  • May be required to possess and maintain a valid California Driver License with a safe driving record
  • Possess and maintain valid First Aid and CPR/AED certification within 12 months of hire
  • Pass pre-employment drug test
  • Pass employment background check including Department of Justice criminal records check
  • Prefer non-tobacco user
  • Ability to communicate in English
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required

Job Qualifications

  • For Recreation Leader II: sixteen years of age or older at date of hire
  • one year of paid experience in a recreation program setting

  • For Recreation Leader III: high school diploma or equivalent

  • Ability to pass state and background checks
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required

Job Duties

  • Plan, lead, and assist with recreational and social activities for community members of all ages
  • Ensure program areas are clean, safe, and equipment is maintained properly
  • Provide front-line customer service including class registration and facility reservation
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance program delivery
  • Administer basic first aid and operate City vehicles as assigned
  • Support additional program needs such as issuing and collecting equipment and setting up or breaking down activity areas
  • Record participation and attendance accurately
