Job Requirements

  • possession of valid certifications required for specific assignments
  • ability to swim 20 laps for aquatic roles
  • excellent customer service skills
  • commitment to safety and vigilance
  • ability to collaborate effectively within a team
  • dependable attendance and punctuality
  • valid california driver’s license may be required for some assignments

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • one year experience as a recreation leader for supervisory roles
  • current certification or willingness to obtain CPR, First Aid, and AED
  • basic understanding of youth sports rules
  • experience working with youth in group settings
  • american red cross lifeguard training, first aid and cpr certification for aquatic assignments

Job Duties

  • Assist in the preparation of city events
  • perform light custodial duties
  • set up, take down and transport equipment for events
  • maintain records and scores for various youth and adult sports activities
  • supervise athletic fields during activities
  • officiate youth basketball and football games
  • assist in supervision of recreation programs
  • supervise lifeguards and enforce aquatic safety rules
