Job Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- equivalent to one year of paid or volunteer work in an entry-level position in an organized recreation or community service program or work in a customer service and leadership position
- able to pass fingerprint background check
- able to pass physical exam including drug screening and tuberculosis testing
- must submit proof of work permit if under 18
- willing to work variable hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- ability to follow oral and written instructions
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- equivalent to one year of paid or volunteer work in an entry-level position in an organized recreation or community service program or work in a customer service and leadership position
- school-related leadership participation can be substituted for some or all of the work experience
- ability to follow oral and written instructions
- ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- effective communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to maintain a safe environment
Job Duties
- Lead and conduct a variety of activities and programs at recreation facilities
- prepare and disseminate program publicity materials
- prepare and maintain reports and records of program activities
- set up and break down at City facilities and equipment
- maintain facilities and equipment
- maintain inventories of program supplies and materials
- provide leadership and assistance for group recreation and community events
- attend and assist in training other recreation staff and volunteers
- enforce City, department and program rules, policies and regulations
- maintain a safe environment in the assigned area/program
- assist other City staff and members of the public
- work a flexible work schedule that may include evenings, holidays and weekends
- attend staff meetings and training
- maintain professional, courteous behavior toward co-workers, members of the public and all others contacted in the course of work
- perform related duties as assigned by supervisor in area of assignment
