Job Requirements
- Completion of at least one year of college coursework
- Major or coursework in recreation, leisure services, sports management, or a related field preferred
- One or more years of experience in parks, recreation, aquatics, customer service, or sports-related work preferred
- Valid Iowa driver's license
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods
- Ability to kneel or crouch during assigned activities
- Ability to push and pull equipment and materials
- Ability to observe activities and surroundings and respond appropriately
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, participants, and the public
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and follow established procedures
- Hours are flexible and dependent upon program needs, and may include evenings and weekends
- Not to exceed 40 hours per week
- The internship is anticipated to last approximately 12-16 weeks, generally between April and August
- All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a background check and drug screening

Job Duties
- Assist in the development, delivery, and supervision of recreation and aquatic programs and special events
- Support program operations by helping lead activities and assisting with oversight of programs facilitated by other staff or volunteers
- Assist with required administrative tasks and recordkeeping, including inventories, attendance tracking, deposits, and incident reports
- Assist with concessions and program supply inventory, ordering, and organization
- Provide support related to facility scheduling and basic facility coordination
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of staff training and onboarding materials
- Provide feedback and observations to supervisors to support process improvement and future program planning
- Assist with personnel-related functions as appropriate for an intern role, such as staff scheduling support, training assistance, and volunteer coordination
