Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • valid Texas Driver's License or ability to obtain within 90 days
  • experience in event coordination or community programming
  • ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • strong organizational skills
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to operate a City vehicle safely
  • ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external partners

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in recreation management, public administration, event management, or a related field preferred
  • experience planning and coordinating large-scale community events
  • strong organizational and project management skills
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • knowledge of budgeting, contract management, and vendor relations
  • ability to collaborate with multiple departments and external stakeholders
  • proficiency in preparing reports and presentations
  • ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
  • valid Texas Driver's License or ability to obtain one within 90 days

Job Duties

  • Plan citywide community events, festivals, parades, and concerts
  • coordinate with City departments including Police, Fire, Public Works, and Communications to ensure safe event operations
  • manage contracts, sponsorship agreements, vendor payments, and financial records
  • prepare and present event calendars and programming recommendations
  • maintain accurate program and attendance records and prepare performance and budget reports
  • establish partnerships with community organizations, sponsors, vendors, and volunteers
  • oversee event permitting, safety plans, emergency preparedness, and risk management
  • conduct event evaluations and implement improvements
  • coordinate procurement, inventory, and maintenance of event equipment and supplies
  • ensure compliance with City policies and financial procedures
  • attend and oversee events including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • assist with promotional material creation
  • provide customer service and resolve citizen complaints
  • maintain relationships with vendors, sponsors, and external agencies
  • serve as a primary driver of a City vehicle to conduct business
