Job Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree
- Two years of experience coordinating community-wide events
- Must have, or be able to obtain within 90 days of hire, a valid Texas Driver’s License and eligible for coverage under the City of Kyle’s vehicle insurance provider
- Obtain a First Aid and CPR/AED certification within six months of employment
Job Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree
- Two years of experience coordinating community-wide events
- Must have, or be able to obtain within 90 days of hire, a valid Texas Driver’s License and eligible for coverage under the City of Kyle’s vehicle insurance provider
- Obtain a First Aid and CPR/AED certification within six months of employment
- Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation Administration, Event Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or Therapeutic Recreation preferred
- Progressively responsible experience in planning and executing large-scale community events, festivals, or public celebrations preferred
- Certified Festival and Event Associate (CFEA) preferred
- Certified Parks and Recreation Professional Certification (CPRP) preferred
Job Duties
- Plan, direct, and oversee citywide community events, festivals, parades, concerts, and special programs
- Lead cross-departmental coordination with City departments, including Police, Fire, Public Works, Communications, and other divisions to ensure safe and successful event operations
- Develop, monitor, and manage contracts, sponsorship agreements, vendor payments, and financial records
- Prepare and present recommendations for annual event calendars and programming to the Division Manager of Special Events and City leadership
- Maintain accurate program and attendance records
- prepare weekly, monthly, and annual reports for program/event performance, budget reports, performance metrics, and community impact
- Establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations, sponsors, businesses, vendors, and volunteers to expand event offerings and enhance community participation
- Oversee event permitting processes, safety plans, emergency preparedness measures, and risk management practices
- Conduct pre- and post-event evaluations, analyze community feedback, and implement improvements to ensure growth, sustainability, and excellence in service delivery
- Coordinate procurement, inventory, and maintenance of equipment and supplies required for event execution
- Ensure compliance with City policies, financial procedures, and administrative directives
- Stay current with industry best practices for special events
- Monitors inventory, orders supplies, and maintains purchase records within the budget
- Attend and oversee events, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required
- Adhere to administrative directives and procedures, including internal controls
- Provide support at various departmental programs/activities
- Serves as a primary driver of a City vehicle to conduct City business
- Assist with the creation of promotional material for programs and events
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with various stakeholders, departments, sponsors and community partners
- Provides customers with information over the telephone and in person
- responds to and resolve citizens’ complaints concerning programs, activities, and the Parks and Recreation Department
- Maintains desired working relationship with vendors, sponsors, and outside partners
- Maintains a professional working relationship with other federal, state, and local parks and recreation agencies
