Job Requirements
- Two to four years of increasingly responsible administrative, accounting or business experience involving extensive public contact, preferably related to department or division
- equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a related field, unless otherwise noted
- high school diploma or G.E.D. supplemented by applicable college coursework for Parks and Recreation - Events and Culture
- Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts desirable
- possession or ability to obtain a valid California driver’s license by the time of appointment
- ability to work irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- license or certificate in related theatre fields including electrical, lighting, rigging, and audio may be required for Parks and Recreation
- ability to lift frequently up to 10-25 pounds and occasionally up to 40-50 pounds
- frequent use of keyboard, walking, standing, sitting, and occasional climbing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, bending, and squatting
- ability to operate safely in outdoor environments and with machinery where applicable

Job Duties
- Compose correspondence and public information documents for the department
- establish and maintain systems related to assigned technical areas
- give information in person or by telephone requiring judgment and interpretation of policies
- research, compile, analyze, and develop information for projects and reports
- assist in formulating program policies, goals, and procedures
- prepare and administer contracts
- represent the City on boards, commissions, and committees
- respond to citizen inquiries and complaints
- screen, select, schedule, supervise, train, and evaluate staff and volunteers
- respond to complaints about rules and policies
- assist in budget development, track expenditures, maintain logs and statistical records
- plan, organize, promote, and evaluate performing arts programs and special events
- support event logistics, guest services, and facility operations
- manage facility rentals and coordinate custodial and technical support
- prepare and distribute marketing and promotional materials
- solicit and coordinate sponsorships and in-kind services
- provide administrative support including reports and presentations
- coordinate and supervise special events and work with vendors and entertainers
- develop contracts and lease agreements, hire contract instructors
- prepare purchase requisitions and order supplies
- participate in budget administration and monitoring
- coordinate safety inspections and serve as contact with inspectors
- develop and implement marketing, fundraising, and special event strategies
- purchase, transport, and distribute food for programs
- represent the program to community groups and funders
- assume overall daily operations including Playhouse classes, art exhibits, youth programs, box office, and concessions
- manage Back of House responsibilities for stage productions, shows, and events
- provide technical and functional support to staff and volunteers
- assist in technical work relating to audio, lighting, stage management, set and prop construction
- prepare marketing and promotional materials
- complete technical work related to audio, lighting, set design, prop and scenery construction, and rigging
