Job Requirements
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent
- Two years of event coordination or planning experience
- Food Handler, CPR, and First Aid certifications within 6 months of hire
- Valid Arizona Driver's License
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Successful completion of background and fingerprint checks with no convictions of offenses to children or elders
- May work in various weather conditions
- Must pass drug and alcohol testing
- Must obtain GED if enrolled community member without GED
Job Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent
- Two years' experience in event coordination or planning
- Preferred associate degree in hospitality management, marketing, public relations, parks and recreation, or related field
- Preferred one year of recreation-related work with seniors
- Ability to speak Pima or Maricopa language preferred
- Food Handler, CPR, and First Aid certifications required within 6 months of hire
- Knowledge of senior recreational programs and geriatrics
- Skill in organizing, promoting, and operating public events
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain safe practices in recreational settings
- Ability to develop and implement recreation programs
- Ability to work non-standard hours
Job Duties
- Work with management, sponsors, partners, and departments to plan and coordinate senior recreational events
- Assist in organizing event logistics including decor, catering, entertainment, transportation, security, equipment, volunteers, and vendors
- Ensure compliance with contracts, insurance, legal, health, and safety regulations
- Conduct pre- and post-event evaluations and surveys
- Serve as primary contact for community inquiries related to events
- Assist with event setup and teardown
- Develop and maintain promotional materials and event calendars to enhance program participation
- Provide administrative support including preparing financial and post-event reports
- Maintain vendor records, contracts, equipment inventory, and filing systems
- Perform general office tasks such as answering phones, filing, coordinating meetings, and correspondence
- Adhere to safety policies during events
- Participate in event-related meetings and assignments
- Assist with marketing and public relations efforts to promote programs
